Open Public Record Act:

The Wyoming Public Records Act grants citizens access to public records. Public records are any documentary materials that have been made by the state of Wyoming and by any local and state government agencies.

Birth Records:

Records of births that occurred in the state of Wyoming are available from the office of Vital Statistics Services. Only certain individuals are eligible to obtain copies of birth certificates such as the registrant (if 18 years of age), either parent named on the record, lawyer representing the registrant or parent, and legal guardian with court ordered guardianship papers.

To request for a copy of a birth certificate, you must provide the following information:

  • full name on birth record
  • date of birth
  • city or county of birth
  • full names of both parents
  • signature of parent or registrant (if over 18 years old)
  • your mailing address
  • photocopy of a government-issued photo ID
  • All requests must be submitted with the appropriate fee. Only bank-personalized checks and money orders made payable to Vital Statistics Services will be accepted.

    Marriage Records:

    Records of marriages that occurred in the state of Wyoming are available from the office of Vital Statistics Services. Only certain individuals are eligible to obtain copies of marriage certificates which are either party named on the record and a lawyer acting for either party.

    To request for a copy of a marriage certificate, you must provide the following information:

  • full name of applicant and spouse
  • date of event
  • city or county of event
  • signature of applicant or spouse
  • your mailing address
  • photocopy of a government-issued photo ID
  • All requests must be submitted with the appropriate fee. The cost of a marriage certificate is $20. Only bank-personalized checks and money orders made payable to Vital Statistics Services will be accepted.

    Divorce Records:

    Records of divorces that occurred in the state of Wyoming are available from the office of Vital Statistics Services. Only certain individuals are eligible to obtain copies of divorce certificates which are either party named on the record and a lawyer acting for either party.

    To request for a copy of a divorce certificate, you must provide the following information:

    full name of applicant and spouse
    date of event
    city or county of event
    signature of applicant or spouse
    your mailing address
    photocopy of a government-issued photo ID

    All requests must be submitted with the appropriate fee. The cost of a divorce certificate is $20. Only bank-personalized checks and money orders made payabe to Vital Statistics Services will be accepted.

    Death Records:

    Records of deaths that occurred in the state of Wyoming are available from the office of Vital Statistics Services. Only certain individuals are eligible to obtain copies of death certificates such as immediate family members, lawyers representing immediate family, bank, executors of estate, and insurance companies.

    To request for a copy of a death certificate, you must provide the following information:

    full name on death record
    date of death
    city or county of death
    purpose for which copy is needed
    signature of applicant
    your mailing address
    photocopy of a government-issued photo ID

    All requests must be submitted with the appropriate fee. The cost of a death certificate is $15 for the first copy and $10 for each additional copy. Only bank-personalized checks and money orders made payable to Vital Statistics Services will be accepted.
