Hot Springs County is located in Central Wyoming with its county seat Thermopolis. The county was formed in 1911 from portions of Big Horn County, Fremont County, and Park County. It was later organized in 1913 and named after the hot springs located in the area, specifically in Hot Springs State Park. According to the 2016 census, 4,679 people live in the 2006-square mile area of the county It is the second least populated county in the state. The adjacent counties are Washakie County in the northeast, Fremont County in the south, and Park County in the northwest. The zip codes are 82430 and 82443.
