Johnson County is in the northeastern region of Wyoming. Its county seat is Buffalo. The county was formed from parts of Albany, Carbon, and Sweetwater Counties in 1875. It was originally named Pease County after Dr. E.L. Pease. It was later renamed in 1879 after E.P. Johnson who was a Cheyenne attorney. The county’s total area measures 4,175 square miles with an estimated population of 8,486. The county is bordered in the north by Sheridan County, in the east by Campbell County, in the southeast by Converse County, in the south by Natrona County, in the southwest by Washakie County, and in the northwest by Big Horn County. Johnson County Officials Information
The County Clerk provides clerical services to the County Board of Commissioners, preparing and distributing the agendas and minutes of all meetings as well as making them available to the public.
