The county has a total population of 209,152, as of 2014, with its area spanning 591 square miles (land area being 585 square miles, while water area being 5.8 square miles). There are two ways to gain access to this county’s land records. The first is to gain access through Texas Land Records. To provide an online search for property records, the clerk has joined with Texas Land Records. One can choose either a subscription, or a pay-per-access membership plan. The other way of gaining access to records is through the Official Public Records Search. Real property records, plats, financial statements, cattle brands, assumed names, state and federal tax liens, hospital liens, and state abstract of judgment can be searched in their online repository. Marriages can also searched there, as well as CCM and foreclosures. In the website, you can also buy copies of the records or just print an unofficial copy.

For an individual to get a certified copy of either a birth or death certificate, one must provide a copy of his/her ID and the application is required to be authenticated. District Clerk

The district clerk’s office has the responsibility of filing, docketing (assigning the case to a specific court), and keeping all paperwork and documents concerned with felony criminal cases, misdemeanor cases, family cases, juvenile cases, tax cases, and civil cases of more than $500.

This Public Information Request form is required when requesting public information from the District Clerk, including civil and criminal searches and copy requests. Information about the requestor, as well as of the records to be requested, are required for the form. Unless specified, searches will include criminal and civil from 1992 to present. In addition to records search fee of $5.00, copies of court documents are $.50/page and $1.00/page for certified copies.
