Shelby County is a county located in the state of Tennessee. The county was formed in November 24, 1819. Named after Isaac Shelby, the county seat is Memphis and it has a population of 927,644 as of 2010. The county has a total area of 785 square miles, with its land area encompassing 763 square miles, and its water area 22 square miles. The county consists of 40 ZIP codes, with ZIP code 38017 recorded as the one with the largest population. Moreover, Shelby County borders the following counties: Tipton County, Tennessee to the north; DeSoto County, Mississippi to the south; Fayette County, Tennessee to the east; Crittenden County, Arkansas to the west, and; Marshall County, Mississippi to the southeast.

The Shelby County Clerk’s Office is one with which nearly everyone in Shelby County has done business. Elected to a four term position, the County Clerk has the following duties:
