Rutherford County is a county located in the state of Tennessee. The county was formed in October 25, 1803. Named after Griffith Rutherford, the county seat is Murfreesboro and it has a population of 308,251 as of 2016. The county has a total area of 624 square miles, with its land area encompassing 619 square miles, and its water area 4.7 square miles. The county consists of 18 ZIP codes, with ZIP code 37130 recorded as the one with the largest population.
