Knox County, Tennessee Overview

Knox County is located in the state of Tennessee. Named after Henry Knox, the county was formed in June 11, 1792 and its county seat is Knoxville. The county has a total population of 432,226, as of 2010, with its area spanning 526 square miles (land area being 508 square miles, while water area being 18 square miles). The county consists of 30 ZIP codes, with ZIP code 37918 recorded as the one with the largest population. Knox County Clerk Information

One of the Clerk’s primary functions is to keep the official minutes and records of the activities of the Knox County Commission and its Standing Committees. These records are maintained in the Commission Library in our offices at the Old County Courthouse. The County Clerk also maintains records of marriage licenses and automobile titles issued in the County.

You can request a certified copy of any marriage license you find in the search by filling up an online form which requires your user information (name, address and phone) and payment options (either check or credit).

Public record requests shall also be made to the Public Records Request Coordinator (”PRRC”) or his/her designee in order to ensure public record requests are routed to the appropriate records custodian and fulfilled in a timely manner. Requests for inspection may be made orally or in writing using the attached Public Records Request Form. Requests for copies, or requests for inspection and copies, shall be made in writing using the same attached Public Records Request Form. Circuit Court Clerk
The Clerk has the responsibility for all administrative functions to support the Judges of the courts, keep all the documents pertaining to the courts, collect fees owed to Knox County through the courts, maintain record books and cases, and the dockets for each of the courts.
