Creek County is located in the state of Oklahoma. The county was formed in 1907 and named after Creek Nation. The county seat is Sapulpa. As of 2013, the county has a population of 70,470. The county has a total area of 970 square miles, 950 square miles of which is land, and 20 square miles is water. The county consists of 20 ZIP codes, with ZIP code 74066 recorded as the one with the largest population. Creek County borders the following counties: Pawnee County, Oklahoma to the north; Okfuskee County, Oklahoma to the south; Tulsa County, Oklahoma to the east; Lincoln County, Oklahoma to the west; Payne County, Oklahoma to the northwest, and; Okmulgee County, Oklahoma to the southeast.

Creek County Clerk Information

The County Clerk is the Register of Deeds for the county and preserves all documents filed in the County Clerk’s office. The office maintains an accurate and current record of all legal instruments pertaining to land including deeds, mortgages, plat maps, oil and gas leases, liens, military discharge papers, and numerous miscellaneous documents. The County Clerk serves as Secretary to numerous County Boards, such as Board of County Commissioners, the County Excise/Equalization Board, and Tax Roll Corrections Board. As such, the Clerk is the custodian of all county board records. The County Clerk, or a designated deputy, serves as the Purchasing Agent for the county. The Purchasing Agent handles the paperwork for purchases, rentals, lease-purchase agreements and advertises for sealed bids for the Board of County Commissioners to make sure that public tax dollars are being spent appropriately. The County Clerk is the encumbering officer for the county working closely with the County Treasurer to provide checks and balances for all offices. The County Clerk oversees payroll, inventory, and assists with the budget for the County. The County Clerk also receives all claims filed against the County.

Court Clerk

The Court Clerk as an elected official files and maintains all court records for Creek County. The Office is also in charge of maintaining all statistics regarding the filing and disposition of all cases and also collects statutory fees, fines and forfeitures and distributes the collections to the appropriate agencies as prescribed by law. It is also the duty of the Court Clerk to oversee the jurors.
