Nelson County is located in the U.S. state of North Dakota. The county was formed in 1883 and named after Dakota territorial legislator Nelson E. Nelson. The county seat is Lakota. The County Recorder is an elected official of Nelson County. In Nelson County, the Recorder also serves as ex-officio clerk of the district court.
