The county was formed in 1873 and named after Grand Forks, North Dakota, which in turn was named for its location at the intersection of the Red Lake River and the Red River of the North. Grand Forks County Recorder’s Office Information
The primary administrative responsibility of the County Recorder is to transcribe and maintain for perpetuity all types of documents which affect title to real property. The land records insure a permanent record of property ownership and complete title. The Recorders Office holds wills for safe keeping.
