McLean County Recorder’s Office Information

The Recorder acts as a custodian of all land records in the county and must process a large variety of instruments. The documents include all varieties of deeds, instruments of conveyance, probate instruments, mortgages/mechanics liens and other lien-type instruments, easements involving utility companies and highway rights-of-way, oil and gas, coal, gravel and farm lease, contracts for deeds, satisfactions/releases of mortgages, affidavits and many other documents. As of 2015, the Recorder’s Office has started offering passport services as well as issuing marriage licenses to the citizens of McLean County. Previously, these duties were performed by the Clerk of Court’s office.
