Dickey County is located in the U.S. state of North Dakota. The county was formed in 1881 and named after Dakota territorial legislator George H. Dickey. The county seat is Ellendale. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2018, the county has a population of approximately 5,289 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,142 square miles, of which 1,131 square miles is land and 11 square miles is water. Dickey County borders the following counties: LaMoure County to the north; Ransom County to the northeast; Sargent County to the east; Brown County, South Dakota to the south; McPherson County, South Dakota to the southwest; and McIntosh County to the west. Dickey County Clerk of the Court’s Office Information

The Dickey County Clerk of the Court is an appointed office. The primary administrative duties of this office include maintenance of criminal and civil case records, updating the court docket and processing judgments. This department also handles all felony criminal cases, domestic relations cases and civil cases. Other services provided by the Clerk of the Court include: probate, guardianship/conservatorship, name changes, child support restraining orders and small claims. The Clerk of the Court’s Office also serves as the Passport Acceptance Facility of Dickey County. In addition, the Clerk also issues marriage licenses. Marriage licenses date back to 1887. To obtain a certified copy of a marriage license, individuals should send a letter to the Clerk of the Court’s Office with the following information: bride’s maiden name, grooms name, date of marriage, and $10.00.
