San Juan County is located in the U.S. state of New Mexico. The county was formed in 1887 and named after San Juan River. The county seat is Aztec. According to New Mexico law, the County Assessor is required to discover, list and value all property within the county. The Assessor’s Office, through statistical and analytical methods, determines the appraised value of the property. Properties include land, homes, commercial buildings, and other types of real property. The Assessor maintains digital county parcel maps reflecting current ownership of real property, by accurately tracking all transfers, land splits, and subdivisions. Other duties of the Assessor include:

San Juan County Clerk’s Office Information

The San Juan County Clerk’s office is the guardian of public records. The San Juan County Clerk’s Office records, files and preserves all types of documents submitted for public and permanent record, such as deeds, mortgages, agreements, etc. The County Clerk issues marriage licenses. The County Clerk serves as ex-officio clerk of the County Probate Court and handles voter registration and administering elections.
