Mora County Magistrates Court Office Information
The function of the Magistrate Court is to handle traffic citations and misdemeanor offenses and civil claims for money up to $10,000. The Magistrates Court handles cases that would be handled by Small Claims court in other states. Felony offenses receive a preliminary hearing in Magistrate Court. The Magistrates Court also reviews the evidences of felony offenses and determines whether to reduce the charges to misdemeanor ones, or to leave them as felonies and bind them over to District Court.
