Harding County is located in the U.S. state of New Mexico. The county was formed in 1921 and named after Warren Gamaliel Harding, the twenty-ninth president of the United States. The county seat is Mosquero. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2016, the county has a population of approximately 665 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,126 square miles of which 2,125 square miles is land and 0.4 square miles is water. Harding County borders the following counties: Union County to the northeast; Quay County to the southeast; San Miguel County to the south; Mora County to the west and Colfax County to the northwest.
