Eddy County is located in the U.S. state of New Mexico. The county was formed in 1887 and named after Charles Eddy, a rancher and developer of the area. The county seat is Carlsbad. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2016, the county has a population of approximately 57,621 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 4,198 square miles of which 4,176 square miles is land and 22 square miles is water. Eddy County borders the following counties: Otero County to the west; Chaves County to the north; Lea County to the east; Loving County, Texas to the southeast; Reeves County, Texas to the south and Culberson County, Texas to the south. Eddy County Clerk’s Office Information

The County Clerk of Eddy County has many roles and responsibilities. The County Clerk serves as the Ex-Officio Clerk for the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) and is responsible for keeping records, resolutions and ordinances adopted by the Board of County Commissioners. The County Clerk is also the Ex-Officio Clerk of the Probate Court as well as the Chief Election Official for the County. As Chief Election Official, the County Clerk is responsible for handling voter registration and election administration. The County Clerk is also the Recorder of Real Estate Records and records, files and preserves all types of documents submitted for public and permanent records such as deeds, mortgages, agreements, etc. The County Clerk also issues marriage licenses and other permits and licenses. Documents recorded in the County Clerk’s Office are public records, subject to inspection and disclosure. Records are not available online at this time; however, the process is ongoing.
