The county was formed in 1812 and named after St. Genevieve, the patron saint of Paris in Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox tradition. The county seat is Ste. Genevieve. The Ste. Genevieve County Recorder of Deeds main duty is to maintain and preserve all records related real estate/land transactions. The Recorder of Deeds also provides the public with information they may need and answer the questions they have pertaining to the office.
