Bullitt County is located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The county was formed in 1796 and named after Alexander Scott Bullitt, Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky (1800–04). The county seat is Shepherdsville. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2010, the county has a population of approximately 76,854 people. Bullitt County borders the following counties: Jefferson County to the north; Spencer County to the east; Nelson County to the southeast and Hardin County to the southwest.
