Henry County, Georgia

Henry County is located in the state of Georgia. The county was created on May 15, 1821, and named after Patrick Henry, Revolutionary War firebrand and champion of individual rights. Stockbridge is the largest city in the county, while McDonough is the county seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 203,922 people and a total area of 327 square miles, of which 4.4 square miles is water and 322 square miles is land. Henry County borders the following counties: DeKalb County to the  north, Rockdale County to the northeast, Newton County to the east, Butts County to the southeast, Spalding County to the southwest, and Clayton County to the west.

Barbara A. Harrison is the Clerk of Superior Court as of 2015; the clerk is elected to administer the proper registration and retention of official documents. These documents include real estate and personal property transactions, civil and criminal proceedings, and various other vital records. In addition, the clerk’s office is responsible for filling, recording, and handling records requests for the various types of public documents that are filed by the office.

Henry County Marriage License Office
In order to obtain a marriage license in Henry County, the applicants must apply together, in person, at the County Clerk’s office. Both parties must present their state-issued picture ID, military ID, or passport, and know their social security number
