Washington County is a county located in the state of Florida. The county was formed in December 9, 1825. Named after George Washington, the county seat is Chipley and it has a population of 24624 as of 2013. The county has a total area of 616 square miles, with its land area encompassing 583 square miles, and its water area 33 square miles. The Office of the Clerk is a complex organization that performs a wide range of record keeping, information management, and financial management for the judicial system and county government.

The Clerk of Court allows searching of official records and court records, both hosted on different websites linked in the Clerk of Courts website. Official records include court judgments, deeds, liens, marriage licenses, mortgages, plats and tax deeds. They can be ordered online. Court records include documents, information and exhibits that the court maintains in connection with a case. They can be searched through an online database available. Four access options, the Public one allowing anonymous searching, while the other three requiring a username and password. Public records can be searched in their website, where you can put in several search parameters, like name and date range, and records from different courts can be searched. To be a registered user, you’ll have to email a form, available at their website.

In order to obtain a marriage license in Washington County, the applicants must apply together, in person, at the County Clerk’s office. Both parties must present their state-issued picture ID, military ID, or passport, and know their social security number
