Alachua County is located in north central Florida. The county seat is Gainesville, home to the University of Florida. The county was founded in 1824. Newnansville was the county seat until 1854, when the railroad bypassed it. As of the 2010 census, the population was 247,336.
The Alachua County Clerk of the Court is the County Recorder. Records maintained by the clerk include but are not limited to copies of deeds, mortgages, and other instruments.
