Stanislaus County is located in the state of California. The county was formed in April 1, 1854 and named after Estanislao. The county seat is Modesto. As of 2013, the county has a population of 525491. The county has a total area of 1515 square miles, 1495 square miles of which is land, and 20 square miles is water. The county consists of 26 ZIP codes, with ZIP code 95355 recorded as the one with the largest population. Stanislaus County borders the following counties: San Joaquin County, CA to the north; Merced County, CA to the south; Tuolumne County, CA to the east; Santa Clara County, CA to the west; Calaveras County, CA to the northeast; Alameda County, CA to the northwest, and; Mariposa County, CA to the southeast.

Stanislaus County Clerk Information

The County Clerk and Recorder processes documents related to birth certificates, death certificates, marriage licenses, certified copies of vital statistics, document filings and recordings of real property; processes passports; and conducts civil wedding ceremonies. The County Clerk-Recorder is responsible for examination and recording of documents presented to the office that deal with establishing ownership of land in the County or as required by law.
