Humboldt County, California

Humboldt County is located in the state of California; the county was formed in 1853 from part of Trinity County and was named after Humboldt Bay. According to a census done by the U.S. Census Bureau in 2010, the county has a population of approximately 134,623 people and a total area of 4,052 square miles. The county seat is Eureka. The following cities are within the county:  Arcata, Blue Lake, Eureka, Ferndale, Fortuna, Rio Dell and Trinidad.

Sanders is the Humboldt County Clerk-Recorder as of 2015; his office records various authorized documents and maps; registers all births, deaths, and public marriages occurring within Humboldt County; and collects transfer tax and other fees. After being recorded, the documents and certificates are made available for examination within the office by interested parties. In addition, the Clerk-Recorder’s office registers confidential marriages, issues marriage licenses, and performs marriage ceremonies. The office also performs services related to filing of Notary Bonds, registration of professional agents and similar services, and filing of Fictitious Business Name statements.
