White County, Arkansas

White County is located in the state of Arkansas. It is Arkansas’s 31st county, formed on October 23, 1835, from portions of Independence County, Pulaski County and Jackson County,  and named after Hugh Lawson White, a Whig candidate for President of the United States. As of the 2010 census, the county has a population of approximately 77,076 people and a total area of 1,042 square miles. The county seat is Searcy. White County borders the following counties: Independence County to the north, Jackson County to the northeast, Woodruff County to the east, Prairie County to the southeast, Lonoke County to the southwest, Faulkner County to the west and Cleburne County to the northwest.

The White County Clerk maintains all records for the County Court orders signed by the County Judge; these includes candidate reports, elections results, road vacancies and annexations, among others. In addition, the county clerk is also the secretary of the Quorum Court and the Equalization Board. Responsibilities of the probate clerk include maintaining the following records: decedent estates – testate & intestate, small estates, guardianships, civil commitments, and adoptions (sealed and confidential). In addition, the recorder’s office maintains the following public records: subdivisions/restrictions, deeds, mortgages, oil and gas leases, judgments, divorces, military records, and notary bonds.

Public records can be accessed by visiting the Circuit Clerk’s Office in person or doing an online public record search by visiting the official county website. While on the website, click on the relevant link to access the records that are available.  For records that are not available online, you will be required to visit the County Clerk’s office in person at White County Courthouse, 300 North Spruce, Searcy, AR 72143. Though you cannot access public records by phone, you can call the Circuit Clerk’s Office at 501-279-6204 and make enquiries regarding public records.

In order to obtain a marriage license in White County, the applicants must apply together, in person, at the County Clerk’s office. Both parties must present their state-issued picture ID, military ID, or passport, and know their social security number
