Waupaca County is located in the northeastern region of Wisconsin. Its county seat is also called Waupaca. The county was formed in 1851 and organized 2 years later, in 1853. It was named after the Waupaca River. The word Waupaca is a Menominee word that means “white sand botttom” or “pale water.” The county’s total area measures 765 square miles.
