Burnett County is located in the northern region of Wisconsin. Its county seat is Siren. The county was created in 1865 and named in honor of an early Wisconsin legislator, Thomas P. Burnett. The county’s total area is 880 square miles with a population of 15,457 (2010). The counties borderig Burnett County are Douglas County in the north, Washburn County in the east, Barron County in the southeast, Polk County in the south, Chisago County (MN) in the southwest, and Pine County (MN) in the west.
