Overton County is located in the state of Tennessee. The county was formed in September 1806 and named after John Overton. The county seat is Livingston. As of 2010, the county has a population of 22,083. The county has a total area of 435 square miles, 433 square miles of which is land, and 1.4 square miles is water. The county consists of 12 ZIP codes, with ZIP code 38570 recorded as the one with the largest population. Overton County borders the following counties: Putnam County, Tennessee to the south; Fentress County, Tennessee to the east; Jackson County, Tennessee to the west; Pickett County, Tennessee to the northeast, and; Clay County, Tennessee to the northwest.
