Union County is located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The county was formed in 1813 and named after the federal union of the states. The county seat is Lewisburg. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2015, the county has a population of approximately 44,954 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 318 square miles of which 316 square miles is land and 1.8 square miles is water. Union County borders the following counties: Lycoming County to the north; Northumberland County to the east; Snyder County to the south; Mifflin County to the southwest; Centre County to the west and Clinton County to the northwest. Union County Recorder of Deeds Office Information

The Office of Recorder of Deeds is responsible for recording documents related to property. Documents recorded in the office consist of, but are not limited to, deeds, mortgages, releases, easements, subdivisions, and restrictions. Documents/instruments pertaining to notaries and public and elected county officers are also recorded in this office. Military service discharges are recorded in this office. 11. Only legible documents capable of being clearly scanned will be acceptable for recording. If a document sent for recording is unacceptable for any reason, it will be returned to the sender with a letter of explanation and a $3.00 fee charged.

The Office of Recorder of Deeds also collects real estate transfer taxes for the state, townships, boroughs and school districts. Most of the records with the exception of military service discharges are public records, which mean they are available to the public for inspection.
