Franklin County can be found in the north central region of North Carolina. The county seat is Louisburg. The county was created in 1779 and named after Benjamin Franklin. The total area of the county is 494 square miles and the population is 60,619 based on the 2010 census. Franklin County is bordered in the north by Vance and Warren County, in the east by Nash County, in the southwest by Wake County, and in the northwest by Granville County.
