Musselshell County Clerk of District Courts Office Information

The Clerk of District Court’s office is the “Hub” of the Judicial System. The staff in the Clerk’s office takes minutes during all Musselshell County District Court hearings and trials. This office prepares jury selection each year. The Clerk of Court is appointed by the federal government to handle passport applications. This office also issues marriage licenses. Public records held at the Clerk of District Court’s office include marriage licenses, probates, dissolution (divorce), civil, and criminal files, and naturalization documents. The Clerk and Recorder files and maintains documents related to birth and death records, military discharges, deeds, mortgages, satisfactions, certificates of surveys, subdivisions, liens, leases, powers of attorneys, accounting, budgets, inventory, payroll and claims processing. In addition, the Clerk and Recorder is also the Election Administrator of Musselshell County. As Election Administrator, the Clerk and recorder is responsible for maintaining voter records, conducting primary, general and other county elections, certifying the local ballot, preparing ballot layouts, training election judges, and other election related duties.
