Texas County is located in the U.S. state of Missouri. The county was formed in 1843 and named after the Republic of Texas. The county seat is Houston. Texas County Circuit Clerk’s Office is responsible for filing the following cases:

The Circuit Clerk’s office also files cases for criminal felonies, murders, robberies, driving while intoxicated and possession of controlled substance. Misdemeanors and small claims are also filed in this office. The responsibility for assessing and collecting court cost falls upon the Circuit Clerk’s Office. The Circuit Clerk’s Office is also liable for retaining files and records pertaining to these costs. This office also files Mechanics Liens, Transcript Judgments, and Foreign Judgments. The Circuit Court Clerk selects and summons jurors. Names of jury service are put in a computer from a list of persons with driver’s license received from the Department of Revenue. Texas County Clerk’s Office Information

The County Clerk is a vital position of the county government. The County Clerk is an elected position with a four-year term. The County Clerk is the Budget/Accounting officer for the county and accounts for all monies expended from and received into the various county funds. The Clerk’s office is responsible for the processing of accounts payable and payroll for the county. He/she is responsible for the preparation and publication of the county’s annual financial statements. It is the duty of the Clerk’s office to prepare and receive all bids for the county for any item or services in excess of the amount required by law to be advertised for bids.

County Liquor Licenses and Auctioneers Licenses are issued by the County Clerk’s office. The Clerk is responsible for signing off on all county Merchant Licenses.

The County Clerk is the local election authority and is responsible for conducting all elections in the county. This includes conducting voter registration, maintaining voter registration files and keeping these files current. Campaign Finance Disclosure Statements that are required to be filed with any local candidate or committee are maintained in the Clerk’s office. The County Clerk also maintains a list of names, addresses and telephone numbers of the county offices, county boards and township officials.
