St. Francois County is located in the U.S. state of Missouri. The county was formed in 1821 and named after St. Francis of Assisi (c. 1182–1226), a Catholic deacon and the founder of the Order of Friars Minor, more commonly known as the Franciscans. The county seat is Farmington. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 66,215 people. St. Francois County borders the following counties: Jefferson County to the north; Ste. St. Francois County Circuit Clerk’s Office Information

The Circuit Clerk’s Office is made up of the circuit clerk and approximately 19 deputy clerks and consists of three main divisions; civil, probate, and criminal. The primary responsibilities of the Circuit Clerk’s Office is to provide administrative support to the Circuit and Associate Circuit Judges of St. Francois County and visiting judges of the 24th Judicial Circuit, as well as assisting in the courtroom. All court proceedings begin in the Clerk’s Office and are maintained electronically. Court proceedings include but are not limited to misdemeanor and felony criminal cases, traffic, dissolutions of marriage, modifications, paternity, adult abuse, adoptions, abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquent, associate and circuit civil cases, probate matters, small claims, and garnishments. This office is also responsible for summoning jurors and maintaining jury pools. In addition, the Clerk’s office also serves as a passport agency.
