Buchanan County is located in the U.S. state of Missouri. The county was formed in 1838 and named after James Buchanan (1791–1868), 15th President of the United States. The county seat is Saint Joseph. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 89,631 people.
