Wadena County is located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The county was formed in 1858 and named after Wadena Trading Post, in turn for an Ojibway word meaning “a little round hill”. The county seat is Wadena. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 13,804 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 543 square miles of which 536 square miles is land and 7.0 square miles is water. Wadena County borders the following counties: Hubbard County to the north; Cass County to the east; Todd County to the south; Otter Tail County to the southwest and Becker County to the Northwest.Wadena County has seven zip codes.
