Hillsdale County, Michigan Overview

Hillsdale is located along the southern border of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. It is comprised of approximately 607 square miles with 8.9 of that being water. Named for the style of terrain common in the county, it is bordered on the north by Jackson and Calhoun Counties, to the east by Lenawee County, to the west by Branch County and to the south by Williams County, Ohio. Approximately 46,101 people lived in the county during the 2013 census. The County Clerk for Hillsdale County keeps records of birth certificates, death certificates, marriage and divorce records and notary public information, election results and financial summaries.
