Winn Parish, Louisiana Overview

Winn Parish is located in the central part of Louisiana with the Kisatchie National Forest running through it. The parish is land-locked in approximately 957 square miles with 6.7 square miles of water. Formed by land owners from Catahoula, Natchitoches, and Rapides parish in 1852, it is bordered by Jackson Parish on the north, Caldwell and La Salle Parish to the northeast, Grant Parish to the south, Natchitoches Parish to the west, and Bienville Parish to the northwest. The Parish Clerk is responsible for personal protection orders, concealed weapons permits, voter registration, election results, vital records, circuit court filings and fees, assumed names, notary public documents and military discharges. These documents are not available online; however they can be requested by those that they pertain to, directly in the office.

The Register of Deeds is responsible for property related information, including warranties, deeds, liens, leases and mortgages. These documents are considered public record and can be requested, in person, during normal business hours. They are not available online; however anyone can purchase and request these documents.
