LaSalle Parish, Louisiana Overview

LaSalle Parish is located in the central part of Louisiana in the Crossroads Region. LaSalle Parish is land-locked and encompasses 662 square miles of which 38 square miles is water. The Parish is named after René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, a French Explorer. It is bordered by Caldwell Parish to the north, Catahoula Paris to the east, Avoyelles Parish to the south, Rapides Parish to the southwest, Grant Parish to the west, and Winn parish to the northwest. The LaSalle Parish clerk is responsible for family court information as well as circuit court filings and fees, as well as assumed names, vital records, concealed weapons permits, military discharges and personal protection orders. They also serve as a notary public and maintain election results. While not all of these documents are considered public record, a number of them are available for a fee, by in person request. Information is not currently available online.

The Register of Deeds is responsible for property related information which includes warranty deeds, liens, leases and mortgages. They are also responsible for quit claim deeds and other related documents. These are considered public record and are available for purchase from the office. This department handles all information related to taxes and property within the parish, which includes property lines and owners as well as descriptions, GIS maps, surveys and aerial images. Any other documents related to the assessment of a property can also be found within this department. Property searches and digital maps are available online, however other information must be requested directly through the office, during normal business hours.
