Allen County, Kentucky Overview

Allen County is located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The county was formed in 1815 and named after John Allen, the hero of the Battle of Frenchtown in the War of 1812. The county seat is Scottsville. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 20,311 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 352 square miles of which 344 square miles is land and 7.5 square miles is water. Allen County borders the following counties: Warren County to the northwest; Barren County to the northeast; Monroe County to the east; Macon County, Tennessee to the southeast; Sumner County, Tennessee to the southwest and Simpson County to the west. Allen County Clerk’s Office Information

The Allen County Clerk is charged with the responsibility of maintaining all public records in the county. It is the responsibility of the Clerk to accurately record various documents pertaining to Allen County and to keep those documents safe and properly arranged for easy access to the public. The County Clerk keeps records of documents that include various real estate documents including deeds, mortgages, tax liens, land records, property surveys, releases, leases, and other legal documents. Other documents include marriage, wills, and delinquent tax records. The County Clerk is also responsible for voter registrations, certifying elections, and conducting all elections in the county. The Clerk also issues driving licenses, titling of vehicles, repossessions, tax collection on motor vehicles, motorboats and insurance verification. Other services provided by the County Clerk’s office are notary applications and certifications, and fishing and hunting licenses.
