Christian County is located in the state of Illinois. Named after Christian County, Kentucky, the county was formed in 1839 and its county seat is Taylorville. The county has a total population of 34298, as of 2013, with its area spanning 716 square miles (land area being 709 square miles, while water area being 6.3 square miles). Christian County Clerk Information

The Christian County Clerk and Recorder offers services in vital records, voter registration, property tax rate extension, notary public registry, and assumed business name registry, among others.

The Christian County Clerk’s Office will only release certified copies or certifications of vital records, upon written request, to individuals who are authorized or entitled to receive them. If you are eligible to obtain a copy of a birth record, please indicate on the application your relationship to the person registered and your intended use of the copy. Death and marriage license require only that you must complete an application, provide proof of identity and pay the appropriate fees. All vital records for events from 1916 and forward are also on file with the State Department of Public Health’s Division of Vital Records.

The County Clerk’s Office also offers an online application for either a Marriage License or a Civil Union License. Applicants complete all necessary information online and then submit their application for review. Both parties must still appear in person to pay the fees and sign the applications and provide all necessary identification and supporting documentation.

Court Clerk Information

The Circuit Clerk’s primary function is to establish, maintain and keep all records of the court and the official court seal. In addition, the Court Clerk is responsible for all scheduling matters and all financial duties relating to the Court system. All monies owed to the Court are collected and distributed by the Circuit Clerk.
