Polk County is located in the state of Florida. Named after James K. Polk, the county was formed in February 8, 1861 and its county seat is Bartow. The county has a total population of 623009, as of 2013, with its area spanning 2011 square miles (land area being 1798 square miles, while water area being 213 square miles). The Property Appraiser is responsible for determining the value of all property in the county on the appraisal date of January 1st of each year. In addition to appraising over 358,000 parcels of real estate and 84,000 business accounts, the Property Appraiser administers 131,000 homestead exemptions, and must determine property entitled to Agricultural Classification.

The Polk County Clerk of Courts and Comptroller has three branches that oversee more than 1,000 duties.

The Polk County Florida Public Records is available via the Internet. The Polk County Clerk’s home page features services allowing you to search the entire Polk County Public Records database for final judgments, land records, court records, and other public documents recorded since January 1, 1957. The search will return a list of Grantors/Grantees or Parties, the date of the document, the book and page number of the document, and other linked related instruments. With information obtained online, you may easily retrieve and identify documents available at the Public Records Division of the Clerk’s Office in the Polk County Courthouse.
Court records are also available. You can either log in if you have an account in the website or use the public access option. Search parameters in the public access include the court type, uniform case number (partial numbers are accepted), citation number, and party last name, as well as advanced search parameters.
