Cochise County

Cochise County is located in the southeastern corner of the state of Arizona; the county was created on February 1, 1881, out of the eastern portion of Pima County and named after the legendary Chiricahua Apache war chief, Cochise. The county seat is Bisbee. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of 131,365 and a total area of 6,219 square miles. Cochise County is nearly the size of the States of Rhode Island and Connecticut combined.

Christine Rhodes is the Cochise County Recorder as of 2015; her office is responsible for two main functions: maintaining voter registration records for all jurisdictions within the county and processing documents primarily related to real estate transactions, performing related responsibilities as statutorily required. It is important to note that the county assessor’s office maintains the county’s current property ownership records and property assessment maps.

Though most of the public records are not available online, you can do a search through the Recorder’s Document Search  and view the records that can be accessed. While on the website, remember to visit the county assessor’s page to view additional records relating to property.

To obtain most of the public records, you will have to visit the recorder’s office in person.  You will have to fill out and present the records request form to be served.  The form requires your name, address, the kind of records you are requesting, and the period in which the records you are requesting originated. Once you submit the form, you will be served within a few minutes. Another alternative way to access records is by calling the recorder’s office at (520) 432-8350 and making enquiries regarding public records.

The recorder’s office charges a small fee to obtain public records; the fees are determined by the kind of records you request and the volume/size of documents you obtain. For more information about the applicable fees, visit complete fee schedule.
