Henry County is located in the U.S. state of Alabama. The county was formed in 1819 and named after Patrick Henry, who was a Governor of Virginia and Revolutionary War hero. The county seat is Abbeville. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 17,296 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 568 square miles, of which 562 square miles is land and 6.6 square miles is water. It is the fourth-smallest county in Alabama by total area. Henry County borders the following counties: Barbour County to the north; Clay County, Georgia to the northeast; Early County, Georgia to the southeast; Houston County to the south; and Dale County to the west. Henry County Probate Court Information

The Probate Judge is the custodian of all county buildings, funds, and inventories. The Probate Judge is also the Chief Election Official for the county. It is the Probate Judge’s responsibility to certify candidates for the elections, ordering elections supplies, preparing voters lists, preparing elections machines for voting, etc. The Probate Judge also collects fees for various licenses such as vehicles, businesses, hunting, fishing, mortgage tax, deed tax, casual sales tax, and so on.
