Waushara County is located in the northeastern region of Wisconsin. Its county seat is Wautoma. The county was created in 1851 by an act of the Wisconsin Legislature and later organized in 1852. Its name is a Native American word believed to mean ‘good land.’ The county has a total area of 637 square miles and a population of 24,496 (2010). The adjacent counties are Waupaca County in the northeast, Winnebago County in the east, Green Lake County in the southeast, Marquette County in the southwest, Adams County in the west, and Portage County in the northwest.
