Pepin County, Wisconsin Overview
Pepin County is located in the west central region of Wisconsin. The county seat is Durand. The county was created in 1858 from parts of Dunn County. It was named in honor of Pierre and Jean Pepin du Chardonnets, French explorers. According to the 2010 census, 7,469 people live in the 249-square mile area which makes this the 4th least populated county in the state. The adjacent counties are Dunn County in the north, Eau Claire County in the east, Buffalo County in the south, Wabasha County (MN) in the southwest, Goodhue County (MN) in the west, and Pierce County in the northwest. Pepin County Officials Information
The County Clerk is responsible for acting as secretary to the County Board of Supervisors. In addition, the Clerk serves as chief election official of the county. He/she is responsible for conducting all elections in the county and facilitating all County Board and Committee meetings. Other duties of the Clerk include issuing timber cutting notices, providing dog licensing information and municipal clerks/treasurers information, and issuing DNR licenses (fishing and hunting).
