Ozaukee County is located in the southeastern region of Wisconsin. The county seat is Port Washington. The county was established in 1853 from part of Washington County. Its name is derived from the Ojibwe word referring to the Sac or Sauk, a group of Native Americans. The county’s total area is 1116 square miles. Based on the 2010 census, the population is 86,395. The counties surrounding the area are Sheboygan County in the north, Oceana County (MI) in the northeast, Muskegon County (MI) in the east, Milwaukee County in the south, and Washington County in the west.
