Oneida County can be found in the northern region of Wisconsin. Its county seat Rhinelander. The county was created from parts of Lincoln County in 1887 and named in honor of the Oneida tribe, one of the five founding nations of the Iroquois Confederacy. Based on the 2010 census, 35,998 people live in the 1,236-square mile area of the county. The adjacent counties are Vilas County in the north, Forest County in the east, Langlade County in the southeast, Lincoln County in the southwest, and Price County in the west.
