Oconto County is located in the northeast region of Wisconsin. The county seat is also called Oconto. The county was created in 1851 and named for the Oconto River. The total area of the county is 1,149 square miles with a population of 37,660 (2010). The adjacent counties are Forest County in the north, Marinette County in the east, Door County in the southeast, Brown County in the south, Shawano County in the southwest, Menominee County in the west, and Langlade County in the northwest. Oconto County Officials Information

The County Clerk is responsible for conducting all elections in the county, publishing election results, issuing marriage licenses as well as DNR hunting and licenses, and selling plat books. The Clerk’s office also handles the distribution of dog licenses to local municipal treasurers.
