Juneau County is located in West Central region of Wisconsin. Its county seat is Mauston. The county was created in 1857 and named in honor of a founder of Milwaukee, Solomon Juneau. The county’s total area is 804 square miles with a population of 26,664 (2010). The adjacent counties are Wood County in the north, Adams County in the east, Columbia County in the southeast, Sauk County in the south, Vernon County in the southwest, Monroe County in the west, and Jackson County in the northwest. Juneau County Officials Information
The duties of the County Clerk are varied. He/she acts as secretary to the County Board, preparing and recording all agendas, minutes, resolutions, ordinances, appointments, and legal notices of the board. The Clerk is also responsible for coordinating all elections in the county, maintaining the county directory of local officials, and handling the sale or lease of county property. In addition, the Clerk handles the safekeeping of copies of farmland preservation applications and records of county ordinances. Other duties performed by the Clerk include preserving the record for the County Superintendent of Schools, performing purchasing duties for the County Board, assisting the federal census, signing and distributing certified survey maps, and provides news releases to news media.

The County Clerk also provides several services to the public. These include issuing marriage licenses, selling hunting and fishing licenses, issuing license plate renewal stickers and temporary plates, providing burning permits, providing Notary Public services, and issuing DNR renewals for boats, snowmobiles, and ATVs.
