Douglas County is located in the northern region of Wisconsin. Its county seat is Superior. The county was created in 1854 and named in honor of Stephen A. Douglas, an Illinois Senator. The county’s total area is 1,480 square miles. According to the 2014 census, there are approximately 43,698 people living in this area. The county is bordered in the north by St. Louis County (MN), in the northeast by Lake County (MN), in the east by Bayfield County, in the south by Washburn County, in the southwest by Burnett County, in the west by Pine County (MN), and in the northwest by Carlton County (MN). Douglas County Officials Information

The County Clerk acts performs administrative duties for the Board of Supervisors, keeping a record of all the activities of the board and committees and maintaining the county ordinance book. The Clerk is also responsible for keeping a record of all county-owned land and processing land sales, issuing marriage licenses, processing passport applications, and providing photocopying and postage metering services to all departments in the county.
