Buffalo County, Wisconsin Overview

Buffalo County is located in the West Central region of Wisconsin. The county seat is Alma. Created in 1853, the county was named after the Buffalo River which flows to Alma from Strum, Wisconsin before emptying into the Mississippi River. Based on the 2010 census, there are 13,587 people living in the 710-square mile area. The adjacent counties are Pepin County in the north, Eau Claire County in the northeast, Trempealeau County in the east, Winona County (MN) in the south, and Wabasha County (MN) in the west. Buffalo County Officials Information

The County Clerk serves as the official record keeper of the county. He/she is tasked with maintaining records of committee minutes, contracts, resolutions, and ordinances. In addition, the Clerks is required to attend all County Board meetings. Other duties of the Clerk include tax apportionment, sale of veteran memorial bricks, sale of tax delinquent property, acquisition of office supplies for all county offices, and publishing the County Directory as well as the Buffalo County Proceedings books.
